State of the art lithium Yellow Cab
Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (www.hybridtechnologies.com) emerging leaders in the development and marketing of lithium powered products worldwide, announces that pursuant to negotiations with the York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) Hybrid Technologies will build a taxi version of the lithium PT Cruiser.
Holly Roseberry, President of Hybrid Technologies, stated, "We still need to work with the Taxi Commission prior to placing this vehicle in service; however, so far we have received highly supportive feedback. Imagine the iconic New York City taxi running off a fully lithium system…this truly is a dramatic and positive statement for the city."
Once approved by all parties, the taxi will be in regular service operated by a fleet. The lithium taxi will mark a historic change in the current fleet of more than 12,778 medallion taxicabs. The TLC licenses and regulates over 50,000 vehicles and approximately 100,000 drivers.
Hybrid Technologies is currently producing lithium PT Cruisers to service as taxi units for Paratransit, a large, California-based transportation non-profit.
The taxi version of the L-PT Cruiser will be produced in Mooresville, NC and will be tested at the development facility. Hybrid Technologies will issue an additional press release outlining approval and scheduled dates for vehicle launch.
The Taxi Commission will vote on this project at a scheduled commission meeting.
