Volkswagon Fox Released Today (UK)

Today marks the official launch date of the Fox, Volkswagen’s new entry level model. Customers, who have been ordering the Fox since January this year, will now be able to drive their new cars away from Volkswagen Retailers across the UK.

The Fox is designed to give customers exceptional space in a high-value, high-quality package. At 3.83 metres, the Fox is longer than the Lupo it replaces, but shorter than a Polo. Within a height of 1.54 metres it can accommodate four large adults, or two occupants plus one cubic metre of luggage with the rear seats folded.

It is offered with three doors, a choice of two petrol engines – a 1.2-litre 55 PS and a 1.4-litre 75 PS – and in two trim levels. The entry level Fox benefits from power steering, a CD player, ABS, twin airbags and, with the 1.2-litre engine, the lowest possible insurance rating – 1E. The higher specification Urban Fox gains extra equipment and trim.

The Fox harnesses traditional Volkswagen values of low cost of ownership and durability, with a galvanised steel body and extensive use of laser welding. A sliding rear bench seat is standard in the Urban Fox and optional on the Fox – it can be moved through 15 cms lengthways and is split 50:50. Surprisingly, the new Volkswagen Fox is larger and lower priced than the Lupo model it replaces. Prices start at £6,590 (OTR RRP) for the 1.2-litre and £7,395 for the 1.4-litre. In Urban trim, prices are £7,190 for the 1.2-litre and £7,995 for the 1.4-litre.

Helping drivers to get on the road, from launch until 30 September 2006, Volkswagen Finance is offering all retail customers who purchase a Fox with a Solutions finance package free servicing for three years or 30,000 miles (whichever comes sooner).

The free servicing package comprises lubrication service at 10,000 miles or 12 months; inspection service at 20,000 miles or 24 months; and a lubrication service at 30,000 miles or 36 months.

Two full examples of the Fox Launch Campaign are set out below which illustrate a £1,560.37 deposit and £89.00 per month option and a £135.00 deposit followed by £135.00 per month alternative:
