Already at the Motor Show in Essen, Germany, the world’s largest and most important tuning convention, this renowned manufacturer of auto supply products and original parts in the sectors of design, interior, comfort, safety and fun presented a SEAT Leon whose complete front end was produced from ultra light materials. The front end of this pioneering model was designed and realized by well-known automobile designer Stefan Seiffert. in.pro. and Seiffert, the former VW designer who is also a lecturer for Automobile Design at the Royal College of Art in London, demonstrate impressively in this way what’s already possible today in the field of extremely light construction in serial models. Ultra light materials have been used regularly in motor sport for years.
“After creating this project car, it’s our goal to offer complete conversion kits for the front end and rear end conversion of common car brands within the foreseeable future”, explains Ralf Kotarba, Managing Director at in.pro. The benefits are obvious. Optimizing the performance weight simultaneously results in a performance increase which has the added fringe benefit of decisively reducing the fuel consumption of these vehicles. “Up until now, these sectors have developed in opposite directions”, said Kotarba.
An additional advantage: The sportier and more rugged looks. Already today, in.pro. produces and distributes TÜV-certified hoods and engine covers made of carbon as part of the in.pro.Sport product series. This material is extremely hard, correspondingly durable and still extremely light. A carbon hood weighs only around half of what an accustomed sheet metal hood does.
