Audi Q5
Audi is about to develop a new compact SUV to take its place below the Q7 in the company’s model range. Dubbed Q5, the newcomer is going to be a direct competitor against BMW’s X3. It is sitting on a platform featuring elements from the next A4 and A6. In order to be able to use also the important V8 power plants which are essential for the US market, the engines in this SUV will be mounted lengthwise, not transversely.
The photos are showing a computer image of the future model and a prototype mule with distinctly larger wheels during tests at Nürburgring.
The Q5 is expected to debut at the beginning of 2008.
Audi A4
By the end of 2007 Audi will furthermore replace the current A 4 by an all new model.
The next generation A4 will get a more compact styling, and while most new cars grow in size, the new A4‘s overall length is rumoured to decrease by between 10 and 15 centimeters. It is set to rival the BMW 3-series, which by then will be on the market since 2005, and the upcoming Mercedes C-Class, which will also debut in 2007.
The new A4 will again get power from 4 cyl. fuel engines and various TDI Diesels between 120 and 245 HP. The most powerful versions of the fuel engines are going to deliver between 250 and 500 HP in the top of the line model.
With this, Audi will be well equipped to take a chance against the powerful competitors.
The photos are showing a computer rendering and a prototype mule during cold weather testing in Scandinavia. The test car is apparently a sporty sedan featuring four exhaust pipes similar to the BMW M3.
