BMW is preparing a number of new 3-series variants for launch within the next two years..

Here now are latest prototype shots from cold weather testing, one of the open 3-series convertible, half hidden under a canvas cover and three photos of the matching coupe version. On the rear shot of the coupe the two exhaust pipes are showing that this car is equipped with BMW’s new turbo charged straight six fuel engine delivering 300 HP.

While the Coupe is for launch in July this year, the convertible variant is only due a year later in 2007.

The top of the line M3 will get a V8 4.0 litre engine delivering around 400 HP. Furthermore three Diesels will be available performing 163 HP to 272 HP.
