The art-world equivalent of Stella McCartney at Hennes
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is back, by popular demand, and gearing up to be another classic day of art and frivolity in the spirit of the great summer art events. With over 40 pitches, special on-car and in-car art commissions, live DJ’s, performances, films, organic burgers, chilled drinks and a multitude of art wares spilling out of car boots - this is the 2006 Summer art event not to be missed.
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair debuted in the summer of 2004 and had the art-loving throng scrabbling over a staggering array of unique art-wares such as Gavin Turk’s ‘Pop Art Road Kill’, Bob and Roberta Smith’s ‘concrete rubbings’, Richard Clegg’s magnificent ‘Snow Dooms’ and Showroom Dummies limited edition ‘car blankets’.
Ruby Wax and Tracy Emin were spotted cheering trackside at the Omni 'Escalado' stakes. Meanwhile, Pam Hogg and Ross Allen spun the discs and the Whoopee Club thrilled with its special line-up of cheeky Sunday afternoon Burlesque.
The 2006 fair promises all this and much much more! Including NEW! in 2006 the Literary Salo(o)n – live in-car entertainment from the backseat of a Vauxhall Vectra saloon…special guest performances and the Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair commissions – real opportunities to buy limited edition works from famous artists at car boot fair prices – it’s the art-world equivalent of Stella McCartney at Hennes – get there early to avoid the stampede….
An Ashton Hayward Production, The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair – the most fun you’ll have out of the back of a car since you were a teenager!
