Compact SUV mule caught testing
Here are the latest photos of what will become DaimlerChrysler’s first compact 4x4 SUV in 2008. The internal code for the new model is 204 SUT, in public it is known as MLK.
The MLK is using technical components from the yet to come new Mercedes C-Class, which is set to debut in 2007, and it has four wheel drive. Power is expected to come from four-, six- or eight cylinder engines. Once on the market, the newcomer is set to strike against rivals like BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
The MLK will be assembled in Bremen at a yearly production rate of 40.000 units.
Talk is of Euro 36.000,-- for the standard model.
The photos are showing a testmule undergoing current cold weather testing in Scandinavia. As can be seen in one photo, the engineers have a BMW X3 included in their tests for comparison.
