While Jaguar has launched its new Jaguar XK Coupe at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, here is more to come.
These are first photos of the sports version XKR of this model range, showing a prototype as convertible in current cold weather testing. The car can be recognized by an altered front end with big air intakes, air intakes in the hood and four big exhaust pipes at the rear end. It is furthermore featuring extended wheel arches and a boot spoiler. Quite visible is also the big power bulge on the hood.
This car is set to become a competitor against the BMW M6 and Mercedes SL 55 AMG and is powered by a supercharged 4,2 ltre V8 engine delivering 400 HP.
The new XKR has an aluminium chassis and is about 90 kilos lighter than the current model. Both, the coupe and convertible are expected to debut at the Paris Motor Show this fall and to be in the showrooms in 2007.
