Small budget driving fun

Loads of driving fun for the comparatively small budget – a challenge that Eibach has fully embraced in the shape of the Eibach Ford Fiesta ST 150. With the Fiesta ST, the Eibach Suspension Specialists and their partners ATS, Creative Laps, Hankook, Loder 1899, Recaro and Remus have fulfilled 100% of the requirements posed by this challenge. They have put a fascinating car with persuasive handling, phenomenal grip, sophisticated driving dynamics and an exclusive interior on the road, all at an affordable price.

The Ford Fiesta ST 150 is the basis for this latest Eibach project. The four-cylinder, 2.0 liter Duratec-16V motor performs remarkable 150 hp at 6,000 RPM’s, allowing this compact front wheel drive machine to reach 100km/h in just 8.4 seconds, with an impressive top speed of 208 km/h. With the Pro-Kit Performance Suspension Springs from Eibach, this new project vehicle achieves the desired optimized driving dynamics and an even sportier look, making it synonymous with sporty driving fun. The engineers conducted extensive testing to determine the optimum spring rate. The progressive Eibach springs provide the car with even sportier handling, while also fitting ideally with the threading strip floor pan components of the Fiesta ST. The stiffer spring characteristic and the shorter spring travel permit this Fiesta sport version to react to steering inputs with noticeably greater precision. The car’s center of gravity was lowered by approximately 30 millimeters. A welcoming additional benefit is the lasting increased driving stability provided by Pro-Spacer. These Aluminum Wheel-Spacers were specially created for the rear axle only. Eibach’s years of experience in the Motorsport industry have influenced the design and manufacture of these products.

The Loder 1899 products also contribute to the sporty optics of the car. The ABS-material roof spoiler gives the rear section of the Fiesta ST a particularly sporty emphasis. Another tasty feature comes in the form of the headlight blinds that not only increase the optical appeal of the car, they also provide effective protection against flying gravel. Another especially noble accessory feature is the stainless steel mirror covers by Loder, assembled onto the standard mirrors.

For a driving feeling that is simultaneously sporty and safe, Eibach has selected sport seats from Recaro. Their integrated headrests provide optimum head protection, and the enclosed backrest gives special attention to relieving the shoulder area of the driver. With specially shaped cushions offering a perfect seat, comfort is also a priority at Recaro, because the sportier the driving style, the more important it is that the driver can concentrate. The ergonomically shaped, firm cushioning supports the spine and gives one a feel for the street, while the extension of the seating surface provides relief for the thighs. The particularly emphasized flanks of the sport seats guarantee firm seating in tight curves.

A decisive contribution to the sporty nature of the Eibach Ford Fiesta ST 150, which will be presented to the winner of the 2005 Recaro Formula 3 Cup, Peter Elkmann, at the upcoming 2005 Essen Motorshow, is also made by the wheels and tires. The wheels from ATS are called DTM Competition and they keep their promise in design und performance. This 7.5 x 17 inch wheel does not even weigh ten kilograms, and its multi-spoke design boasting 18 spokes is right in line with the current trend. The DTM Competition is lacquered in the special color, “High Gloss”, and was developed by ATS in 2000 especially as a racing wheel for DTM. The tires on the Fiesta ST are the new Ventus S1, the new flagship of tire-maker Hankook. This completely unique profile, featuring a three-dimensional wave enclosed by straight notches, ensures a simultaneously sporty, comfortable and quiet performance beyond what one might expect.

The Ford Fiesta ST 150 exhaust system is from Remus. The exhaust specialist developed this muffler especially for this Eibach project vehicle. This system impresses with its excellent workmanship quality and the distinctive sporty Remus sound. Both, the sophisticated inner workings of the muffler and its housing, are constructed from high-grade stainless steel. The oval design of the chrome-plated, 97 x 80 mm, tailpipe was specially coordinated with the sporty overall look of the Fiesta ST. Along with the sporty sound and appealing design, technical functionality and resulting performance increase were also at the top of the Remus technician spec sheet. The inner workings of the muffler make a significant reduction in exhaust pressure possible, resulting in a noticeable performance increase over a broad RPM range.

The impressive sound in the interior of this Eibach project vehicle comes from the Creative® Zen Micro by Creative Labs. This digital audio player is a synonym for mobile music enjoyment, a diversity of functions and individual design. The player is easily operated with one finger using a touchpad. With its hard drive, up to six GB in size, containing space for up to 3000 songs in WMA format or up to 1500 MP3 format files, and its USB connection, new songs can be transferred quickly from PC to player.
