Press Release
Saturn - the brand that pioneered the "no haggle, no hassle" sales and ownership - will provide additional value for the 2006 model year by lowering sticker prices.
Many models feature both a lower sticker price and additional content.
"As evident by our 2006 prices and equipment levels, we're continuing to move our customer focus to even higher levels," said Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak. "In addition, the new prices strengthen the 'no-hassle, no-haggle' purchase experience that remains a hallmark of Saturn."
The 2006 Vue presents a particularly attractive value, as it combines a lower price with a significantly enhanced interior and exterior design. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP*) of a popularly equipped 2006 Vue (front-wheel drive, automatic, four-cylinder) has been reduced by $1,845 to $19,345. When equipped with front-wheel drive and an optional 250-horsepower engine, the Vue gets 28 miles per gallon on the highway - the best EPA rating for any V6-powered compact SUV.
Pricing and equipment of the Ion sedan and quad coupe has also been significantly restructured. For example, the MSRP for a popularly equipped Ion 2 (w/optional air condition and automatic transmission), has been reduced by $1,495 to $14,350.
The price of the performance-oriented Ion Red Line has been reduced to $19,990, a savings of $1,460 from 2005. In addition, the optional Competition Package - featuring a limited slip differential, boost gauge and illuminated ladder tachometer has been reduced from $1,470 to $1,375. The projector beam fog lamps that were part of the Competition Package in 2005 are now standard on all Ion Red Lines.
The base MSRP for the seven-passenger Relay sport van with front-wheel drive is reduced by $895 to $23,590 for the new model year.
Along with the new prices for 2006, Saturn now provides the OnStar in-vehicle safety and security system as standard equipment on every vehicle, reinforcing the brand's commitment to providing continuous safety before, during and after a crash. Other notable equipment upgrades include a new center stack and radio for Ion and a standard power sliding passenger door and safety package on Relay 3. For Vue, all models now come with a standard power package that includes power windows, door locks and side-view mirrors; remote keyless entry; cruise control; automatic headlights; map lights and an auto-dimming mirror with compass and outdoor temperature gauge.
As it continually refines its current products, Saturn is also beginning an ambitious product expansion, with plans to double its portfolio by the end of 2006. During that year, Saturn will introduce three new vehicles: the 2007 Sky roadster, 2007 Aura midsize sedan and the 2007 Outlook midsize crossover utility vehicle.
