"The King Is Dead, Long Live The King" – the sporty Škoda RS line has a new supreme model. 147 kW (200 bhp), 280 Nm from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm, 240 km/h, these are figures for the most powerful and rapid Škoda in standard production. The new Škoda Octavia RS is here.

Highlights

Sports tradition. The Octavia RS is another sports model from Škoda with a tradition dating back as far as the middle of the 1930’s.

Two body specifications. The RS model is available both as a hatchback and an estate.

Outstanding driving pleasure. A maximum speed of 240 km/h (238 km/h for the estate), acceleration from 0 - 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds (estate 7.5 s) are figures that will speed up the pulse rate of many drivers.

Powerful engine. The RS model comes with the 2.0 TFSI turbocharged petrol engine producing 147 kW (200 bhp) and torque of 280 Nm available over a wide range of revs from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm making it an incredibly dynamic car.

Unique sound. A modified exhaust system with a particularly sporty sound that enhances the car’s dynamic appearance has been developed for the RS model.

Six-gear transmission. A six-gear manual transmission, which transmits the output to the wheels smoothly and cleanly so that all the engine’s exhilarating characteristics can be used, is standard.

Modified chassis. The RS model has very lively driving characteristics because of its lowered sports chassis.

Sporting appearance. The front and rear bumper with an integrated spoiler, the rear bumper with "Cat’s eyes" reflectors, the spoiler on the fifth door (on the hatchback), Zenith 17" alloy wheels, the chrome plated double tailpipe all distinguish the RS model from standard cars.

Sports interior. Sports seats in a black-silver combination, "Alu-Look" RS trim on the instrument panel and door panels, an original three-spoke steering wheel, black ceiling upholstery are some of the features that help to produce just the right interior atmosphere.

RS even in details. The unique and exclusive character of the car is emphasised by many details that are inherent to the RS model, such as green brake callipers and the RS emblem on the radiator grill, fifth door, steering wheel, front and rear seats.

Exclusivity. "Zenith" 18" alloy wheels (available as an option) and the completely new "Race Blue" and "Sprint Yellow" (from 2006) metallic colours are exclusively for Octavia RS models.

Useful RS. Although the Octavia RS is definitely a car full of emotions and passion, its comfortable interior, spacious luggage compartment and engine characteristics make it a useful and full-value vehicle for everyday use.

World debut: Škoda Octavia RS and Škoda Octavia Combi RS

When the new Škoda Octavia was presented last spring the majority of professionals immediately asked if and when its RS sports version would be launched. This was just a natural response from both journalists and customers to the more dynamic shapes of the new model and the fame and positive evaluations of the preceding generation Octavia RS.

Excellent engine, lowered chassis, sports charisma but still a useful family car. These are just some of the opinions of Škoda RS cars. And this is precisely how the new Octavia RS, which is based on these traditions, is – lively, fast, dynamic, safe, comfortable and at the same time useful. A powerful engine producing 147 kW (200 bhp) together with a six-gear transmission and a perfectly adjusted sports chassis will make the adrenaline flow every time the accelerator is pressed. The Octavia RS has a comfortable and spacious interior and a huge luggage compartment making the car eminently suitable for a family holiday.

New Škoda Octavia RS and Škoda Octavia Combi RS: continuing the Škoda sports car tradition

The recently launched Škoda Octavia RS continues the Škoda sports car tradition. It has a long history going back more than a hundred years – the time that the car manufacturer from Mladá Boleslav has been participating in motorsport races. The tradition of mass produced sports cars dates back to the middle of 1930’s when the Škoda Popular Sport – Monte Carlo and Škoda Rapid Six were manufactured.

The RS identification was first used by Škoda in the mid 1970’s with the launch of the legendary Škoda 130 RS – one of the most successful sports cars of that time in the up to 1,300 cm3 category. It is also worth recalling the victory of Škoda 130 RS in the European Championship of makes in a passenger-car competition on circuits in 1981 and its successes during the famous Monte Carlo Rally.

The RS identification appeared again in 2000 when the sporting Škoda Octavia RS with a 1.8 20V Turbo producing 132 kW (180 bhp) was presented and rapidly became a jewel in Škoda’s crown. From 2002 the Octavia RS has also been available as an estate. The Octavia RS is renowned not only for its frequently stated use value, which just happens to be one of the top parameters of Škoda Octavia RS in the sports car category but also for its outstanding driving pleasure. The RS model combines sports driving pleasure with a car for everyday use. In 2003 the Octavia RS gained a little sibling - the Fabia RS. This sports model has the 1.9 TDI PD/96 kW diesel engine which makes it an incredibly dynamic vehicle with low fuel consumption.
