Charting the Changes

Infiniti set a third consecutive sales record in 2005 and surpassed the 1 million mark in cumulative sales since its inception in 1989.  In 2006, Infiniti ushers in yet another exciting product lineup, led by the vibrant, all-new Infiniti M.

New to the lineup for 2006, the Infiniti M is positioned between the award-winning G35 sedan and the Q45 premium luxury sedan.  The recipient of numerous media accolades, the M is a true harmony of sensuous styling, engaging technology and driving excitement.

In addition to the M, Infiniti continues to refine its lineup.  The Infiniti FX gets an exterior facelift, added standard interior features and the FX45 gets the Premium Package contents as standard equipment; the G35 sedan offers Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system; the G35 coupe adds a new Premium Package with Intelligent Key and available Rear Active Steer; Q45 gets a new Sport model with Rear Active Steer, revised transmission with new torque converter and Rev Matching and available Lane Departure Warning; and the QX56 features a new 60/40 split 3rd row seat, power folding mirrors with heat and power adjust and Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system.

In 2006, as always, Infiniti remains one of the leaders in the automotive industry in the development of new automotive technology, including the advanced ATTESA E-TS™ all-wheel drive system utilized in the new M35x, FX and G35x sedan, RearView Monitor, Intelligent Key, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Active Steer, Pre-Crash Seat Belts and many other systems.

Following is an overview of the Infiniti Division products for the 2006 model year:

Infiniti M Luxury Performance Sedan

The 2006 M, which went on sale in February 2005, optimizes both luxury and sport styling to create a dynamic visual appeal.  The exterior design features a low, aggressive hoodline, which flows into the anchored shoulders and contributes to the sporty, powerful silhouette.  Inside, the interior is highly expressive, combining a driver-oriented cockpit with luxurious design and an attention to detail.

At the heart of the Infiniti M is the high-performance power of a choice of advanced V8 or V6 engines, with the vehicles badged M45 or M35 accordingly.  The M45 features the 4.5-liter DOHC V8 currently used in the Infiniti Q45 and FX45.  For use in the M45, it produces 335* horsepower.  The M35 is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC engine producing 280 horsepower.  Both the M45 V8 and M35 V6 are mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with short-throw performance shifter, manual shift mode and Rev Matching.

Advanced technology is abundant on the Infiniti M – starting with a new Rear Active Steer system (Sport model), which helps improve vehicle handling performance by adjusting the rear suspension geometry according to steering input and vehicle speed.  Also featured on the Infiniti M is a new available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system, which helps warn the driver of a pending, unintended lane departure.

• Inviting interior with use of genuine aluminum (Sport model) or Rosewood trim and leather appointments
• Large cabin space, able to fit five adult passengers comfortably
• Available DVD-based Infiniti Navigation System with voice-activated destination entry
• Available Bose® Studio Surround™ sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding and 14 speakers, including two personal speakers mounted in the shoulders of each front seat

• Available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system with cancel switch and Pre-Crash Seat Belts

Infiniti FX Premium Crossover SUV

The FX is again available in both FX45 and FX35 designations.  The all-wheel drive FX45 comes with a standard 320-horsepower 4.5-liter DOHC V8 (based on the Infiniti Q45 powerplant) and includes 20-inch wheels and tires, leather-appointed seats and a sport-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension.  The FX35 features a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and is available in all-wheel or rear-wheel drive.  All FX models utilize a modified version of the advanced FM (Front Mid-ship) platform, enhanced for SUV duties.  The FX continues to offer the advanced Lane Departure Warning system.

For 2006, FX gets an exterior facelift with new grille, bumper, wheel design and three new colors.  In addition, all 2006 FX models add numerous standard features, including a 300-watt BoseÒ audio system, RearView Monitor, Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) and more.  The 2006 FX35 adds leather seating surfaces with heated front seats, 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support and 8-way power passenger’s seat.  Additional features include driver’s seat memory and power tilt/telescope steering wheel.  And the FX45 adds the Premium Package contents as standard features for 2006.
