Press Release
Prices for the new, sixth generation Passat have been revealed today. They start at £14,995 (RRP on the road) for the entry-level S 1.6-litre FSI 115 PS - £175 less than the outgoing equivalent model - and rise to £19,810 for the Sport 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS.
ÂÂÂÂ
With additional specification, including alloy wheels; active front head restraints; electronic parking brake; press and drive key system; and LED rear lights on every model, the all new car offers customers even better value, continuing a trend that has brought record numbers to Volkswagen.ÂÂÂÂ
ÂÂÂÂ
The new model features multi-link rear suspension - used to critical acclaim in both the Golf and Touran - and 57 per cent improved body rigidity, both contributing to class-leading driving dynamics and comfort. Options will include a Bluetooth telephone system; directional Bi-Xenon headlights; 600 watt 10-channel hi-fi system developed with Dynaudio; and a 2Zone Climatronic system.
ÂÂÂÂ
Since its introduction in 1973, the Passat has established a reputation for quality in the medium car market. In 1996, the fifth generation Passat set a new benchmark for interior quality in executive cars. The latest model aims again to set new standards, for quality and equipment.
ÂÂÂÂ
Larger in almost every dimension compared with its predecessor, the new Passat is one of the most spacious vehicles in its class. Its appearance is typically Volkswagen - and instantly recognisable as a Passat - but it is designed to rival the appearance of more expensive cars. Elements of the flagship Phaeton have been incorporated into the new car, such as the distinctive circular LED tail lights, bolder grille and more coupé-like profile.
ÂÂÂÂ
On sale from 24 June, the new Passat will be available with a choice of four advanced direct-injection engines from launch, two petrol and two diesels. These comprise the 1.6-litre FSI 115 PS and 2.0-litre FSI 150 PS, plus the 1.9-litre TDI 105 PS and 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS. Other engines will become available later in the year, including a more powerful 2.0-litre TDI with 170 PS, and a 3.2-litre FSI V6 250 PS. The highly praised 2.0-litre T-FSI 200 PS from the Golf GTI will also be offered, along with extra transmission options including DSG and 4MOTION four-wheel drive.
ÂÂÂÂ
The new Passat is available to order now, ahead of its launch date.
