World Debut in Geneva 2006
After the Škoda Auto company management’s decision to manufacture the fourth model range, the date of its world premiere and the production plant have now been specified. The new model, based on the Roomster concept car, will be introduced at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2006 for the first time. It will be manufactured at Kvasiny.
“In Kvasiny we are currently producing our most prestigious vehicle: the Škoda Superb. In 2001, almost seventy years after it was established, the plant underwent substantial modernisation and is now rated as one of the best within the whole Škoda Auto and Volkswagen Group worldwide from the point of view of long-term quality,” said Detlef Wittig, Chairman of the Board of Škoda Auto. “Since the production process of the Škoda Superb model also demonstrates high quality standards, we choose Kvasiny as the site to produce the new Roomster model series.” Škoda Auto will invest roughly three billion Czech crowns in extension of production equipment and create 2,000 qualified jobs. The company plans to build a new logistic centre, parking spaces for the manufactured cars, employee car park, a bus station, a new freight traffic gatehouse, etc.
The Czech government will make investment incentives amounting to a total of about 427 million Czech crowns.
