Certified Pre-owned Cars Helping Certified Pre-owned Dogs
Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) today announced a national initiative in cooperation with The Humane Society of the United States designed to find homes for homeless dogs while building awareness for the Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned program. The "Cayenne for Canines" campaign will initially involve dealerships and shelters in ten major markets across the country and is scheduled to kick off this April.
"Each year, three to four million dogs and cats face euthanasia because they have no home," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, PCNA President and CEO. "I know from personal experience that dogs placed in homes through local animal shelters can be very loving and loyal pets. We adopted Max, our Labrador, two years ago and he is very much a part of my family."
"Cayenne for Canines" is a multifaceted program. First, PCNA will loan a Porsche Approved Certified Pre-owned Cayenne to a selected animal shelter in each of the ten markets. These vehicles will be equipped for towing, certified by a Porsche dealership and then given to the shelter to be used over the course of a six month period to tow pets, supplies etc. as needed by the shelter.
Porsche's pre-owned vehicles go through a rigorous certification process before they to a new home. To help these shelters get their pre-owned dogs ready for adoption to a caring family, PCNA is donating $3,000 to the participating shelter in each market to go toward such services as spaying, neutering and vaccinations.
Finally, PCNA will work with dealers in the ten pilot markets to host adoption days. PCNA and the designated animal shelter in the area will organize, promote and execute these adoption days, which will take place on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Once the first adoption day is complete, the shelter will take the loaner Certified Pre-owned Cayenne to use for six months. If the dealer and the shelter agree, the program will continue between them.
The Porsche "Cayenne for Canines" program offers Porsche dealerships an excellent opportunity to connect with potential customers in their markets who may not be very familiar with the Porsche brand and the Porsche Certified Pre-owned Program.
"Our hope is that, through the 'Cayenne for Canines program,' we not only gain additional exposure for Porsche but also help place a lot of deserving dogs in loving homes," said Schwarzenbauer.
