"Wellendorff Individualisation" offers particularly discerning Maybach owners the opportunity to elevate the on-board refinement of their high-end luxury Saloon to new levels with exquisite gold inlays and precious stones. This latest development in Maybach's successful individualisation strategy is based on close collaboration with the German jewellery Manufaktur Wellendorff, who meticulously produce the unique decorative inlays by hand. The new options range from exquisite decorative trim strips, embedded in the interior wood trim, to monograms and individual coats of arms, picked out in gold and diamonds. Maybach recently extended the range of optional equipment available ex-factory yet again, adding tailor-made Business Packages, for example, and vehicles specially configured for use in the luxury hotel sector. Maybach also has something of a tradition of realising virtually any customer request, no matter how unusual.
Gold and diamonds create an unparalleled atmosphere
The standard fine wood trim on the Maybach doors harmonises perfectly with the skilfully crafted trim strips from Wellendorff, available in 18-carat yellow or white gold. The trim strips help accentuate the honed craftsmanship behind the Maybach interior appointments. The garland motif, typical of Wellendorff, and the hand-cut diamonds in the trim strips add a further level of sophistication to the Maybach interior. For the ultimate in individuality, the owner's monogram can be added to the long, elegant decorative strips. The trim strips can be fitted on all four doors, extending from the front to the rear of the vehicle in a continuous line.
Narrow, diamond-studded strips in 18-carat yellow or white gold can be added to the centre console too, along with an optional coat of arms. The selector lever can also be decorated with the owner's monogram or coat of arms as an option.
In the rear of the Maybach 62 the optional partition provides the ideal place for a prominently positioned coat of arms, which can be set off to perfection with 18-carat white or yellow gold strips and discreet diamonds. Combining the ornamented partition with the optional trim strips for the rear centre console creates an elegant and harmonious look and lends the interior a highly individual feel. The decorative elements coordinate perfectly with the interior appointments, producing a highly distinctive, elegant and harmonious on-board atmosphere – take, for example, the combination of yellow gold, high-quality matt burr walnut and the california beige interior, or white gold in conjunction with anthracite-coloured appointments and elegant poplar trim.
Jewellery produced by artisans: masterly skill and precision craftsmanship
Wellendorff Individualisation is carried out with consummate skill at Wellendorff's Manufaktur production facility in Pforzheim. The finest of contours are precision-modelled by hand, allowing the delicate details of a personal coat of arms to be replicated perfectly. In terms of clarity and colour, the inlaid diamonds are categorised as IF/G (internally flawless/rare white). Setting the precious trim elements requires the utmost care and a great deal of experience. The required recesses have to be cut out of the Maybach's high-quality wood appointments before the goldsmiths skilfully set each element, working to a tolerance of up to five thousandths of a millimetre. The refined gold trim strips are attached using specially developed retention pins, which are anchored in the wood and have a diamond head to fix the individual decorative elements in place.
The meticulous craftsmanship is testament to the Manufaktur philosophy which Maybach, as a manufacturer of luxury cars, shares with Wellendorff. The results of the collaboration vouch for precision craftsmanship and accuracy, a meticulous attention to detail and the very highest of quality standards.
Customer dreams come true: individual solutions
Maybach has developed and built a special Maybach 57 Saloon model, designed to meet the particular customer requirements associated with the international luxury hotel sector. The concept can also be applied to the Maybach 62. Numerous details and technical features of the model are tailored to the needs of a vehicle operating on a daily basis in the hotel business, with a high passenger turnover. The new-design, easy-access multiple stowage compartments in the rear, for example, can be used to hold tissues or wet-wipes for arriving guests. The car phone in the rear centre console is connected via a conventional telephone lead and the backs of the front seats feature practical fold-down tables in place of the usual video monitors.
Typical Maybach materials are very much in evidence in the interior, which offers the familiar refined, high-quality feel, but is also extremely hardwearing. Particular attention has also been paid to the luggage compartment: a special Maybach rug can be used to protect valuable items of luggage.
Breathtaking: gold instead of chrome in the interior
Maybach has created a study, based on the Maybach 57, which reflects a very special customer demand: all chrome trim parts in the vehicle interior are gold-plated, a wafer-thin layer of genuine 24-carat gold being applied to each one. The gleam of the gold adds a heightened touch of refinement to the interior of the Maybach Saloon, and harmonises perfectly with the high-quality wood and the Maybach leathers used for the study. A carefully coordinated gold paint was selected for the wheels and applied using a special, newly developed process. The expertise which the Maybach specialists have build up over the course of this project will allow them to take the most exclusive of customer requests in their stride in the future.
"Traditional luxury": a de luxe feel and refined comfort
Maybach has developed a further alternative version of the Maybach 57 model, focusing on design options for the interior. The aim of the designers and engineers was to use new and different materials and alternative methods to reinterpret the quality and comfort that luxury saloons typically offer. Features include double rows of stitching on the leather seats and deep-pile lambskin carpets, highlights from the world of traditional luxury.
Personalisation perfected
One of the most popular customer requests is to have a monogram or coat of arms inscribed in a prominent place inside the Maybach Saloon. Maybach also offers the option of having the double "M" emblem embossed in the leather of the door panels — a feature which is not just popular with car enthusiasts and collectors of historic Maybach Saloons, but allows Maybach owners to express their special attachment to the brand too.
On the right course
A compass, designed to coordinate with the nautical-look instruments in the roof liner in the rear of the car, lets rear-seat passengers know exactly which direction they are travelling in. The compass can also be set to point towards a specific location. The compass has proved particularly popular in the Middle East and in South-East Asia, where the request for this product originated.
Exclusive and individual: Maybach optional extras and features available at special customer request, fitted at the Manufaktur
Maybach has been developing and expanding the official range of optional extras and features available at special customer request since the market launch of the luxury Saloons around two years ago. Continuous dialogue with Maybach customers plays a key role here, providing details of new requirements and wishes from this most exclusive clientele.
Tailor-made Business Package
For some time now a special Business Package for notebook users has been available as an ex-factory option. This innovative Maybach mobile office system, which includes mobile internet access and a printer, can be put together individually, following consultation with the customer. Wireless Bluetooth technology allows the customer's own notebook to be integrated on board. For work purposes, the computer can be placed on one of the fold-down tables between the rear seats, and when not in use, it can be stowed away in a multifunction compartment on the back of the seats.
Discretion and security with partition and special protection
Customers who appreciate the utmost discretion can order a partition with retractable window - where approved in the country in question - for the Maybach 62. At the touch of a button, the electrotransparent glass can also be rendered opaque, shutting off the view into the rear. The Maybach Guard, which is also based on the Maybach 62, offers special protection against external attacks. The protection features offer High Protection, as specified by European protection class B4.
Alternative seat configuration for the rear
For customers who want to carry up to three rear passengers, Maybach offers an alternative seat configuration with a third seat in the centre of the rear. In this configuration the two luxurious individual seats are retained, and an additional seat added in place of the standard centre console. The back of this third seat is designed to ensure that all three rear passengers are seated comfortably. Where models are fitted with three seats in the rear, the control elements which are usually accommodated in the centre console — for the curtain, the light and the entertainment units — are integrated in a compact Bluetooth palmtop. The wireless "remote control" is housed in a stowage compartment on the back of the front passenger seat.
Versatility from the ground up: nine different bodies to choose from
The top-of-the-line model, the Maybach 62, which measures 6.17 metres in length, and the Maybach 57, which has a body length of 5.73 metres, form the basis of the Maybach range. The Maybach 62 can be ordered as a Maybach Guard model with special protection features as an alternative. Where the roof is concerned, the customer can choose between the fully closed version, a solar roof and a sliding roof – both positioned either at the front, as usual, or, alternatively, at the rear. There is also the option of an electrotransparent panoramic glass roof. With a total of nine different body variants on offer, Maybach customers are spoiled for choice when it comes to deciding on their own personal dream Saloon.
