Press Release
Direct successor of the much acclaimed CZ2 Cabriolet concept
A few weeks before the launch of the sporty Colt CZ3 and Colt CZT, Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V. (MME), and Pininfarina S.p.A., have reached an agreement concerning a third Colt variant: the convertible. The contract signed yesterday at Mitsubishi Design Europe in Trebur (Germany) by Mr. Tim Tozer (President & CEO of MME) and Mr. Andrea Pininfarina (CEO of Pininfarina S.p.A.) covers the design and development of the Colt convertible and its production at the Pininfarina plant in Turin starting early 2006.
Unique to Europe, it will be the direct successor of the much acclaimed CZ2 Cabriolet concept, designed at Mitsubishi Design Europe and unveiled at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show.
However, market feedback promoted the choice of a folding hard-top over the more traditional soft top chosen for the concept car.
A faithful partner of Mitsubishi Motors since 1997, Pininfarina will bring its impeccable expertise in the fields of roof system engineering and production, as well as its prestigious signature.
Mitsubishi Motors´ NedCar plant in Born (The Netherlands) will also be involved, providing Pininfarina with body-in-white components, as well as their production engineering expertise in the building process of Colt.
