Mitsubishi Colt CZT set to Spice up Supermini Segment
February 2005 will see the next instalment of Mitsubishi Motors' UK product revival with the introduction of the all-new Colt 3-door range. From launch, the Colt 3-door will be available with a choice of engines from the nippy 1.1litre petrol through to the torquey yet frugal 1.5 direct injection diesel. Sitting proudly at the top of this range will be the flagship turbocharged 1.5litre 150bhp Colt CZT.More than an all-out sports car, Colt CZT was developed at the specific request of Mitsubishi Motors Europe and styled at Mitsubishi Design Europe in Germany.
Created for customers who want a spirited, chic yet affordable car that's fun to drive, the Colt CZT effortlessly combines dynamic performance with a cool, modern design both inside and out.
Built in Japan and specifically developed for the Colt CZT, Mitsubishi's 1.5litre MIVEC DOHC 16 valve intercooled turbocharged engine has been tuned to develop 150bhp @ 6,000 rpm and 210 Nm @ 3,500 rpm. Exclusively mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the Colt CZT will achieve a 0-62mph time of 8 seconds and a top speed of 130mph1.
To support this performance, Mitsubishi Motors' engineers have substantially upgraded the standard Colt 3-door format giving the CZT a reinforced bodyshell, sports suspension, front 15" disc brakes, 205/45R16 tyres on specific 16" alloy wheels plus standard MASC and MATC2.
The Colt CZT has a dynamic sporty look due to a unique front bumper design with meshed grille, side airdams, large rear spoiler, 16" alloy wheels, sports exhaust muffler, side protection mouldings and door mirror casings.
Inside, sports seats, a specially designed leather wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, leather gear knob, aluminium pedals with drilled motif and silver accents on the dash all combine to give the Colt CZT true appeal.
At 60mm shorter and 30mm lower, the all-new Colt 3-door range is not simply a compact version of its 5-door sister model. Designed in Europe for Europe all exterior panels, apart from the bonnet and front bumper, have been specifically designed for this new model giving it a look and feel all of its own.
The Colt 3-door range including the Colt CZT will be in Mitsubishi dealerships across the UK from mid-February 2005.
