Interior design

The interior of the new ????????????????????koda Octavia excels with more than ample space in both the front and rear. The advanced design, combined with top-quality materials, produce a relaxed and cosy environment for the driver and passengers.

The instrument panel is elegantly designed and is well arranged. Its surface is soft and touch-friendly because it uses sprayed leather material produced by PU technology, the same slush technology is used for the instrument panel. This lining extends down to the central tunnel. Decorative trims on the instrument panel and doors give the interior a fresh feel. Individual equipment specifications have different trims. All control elements are within easy reach of the driver and are very well arranged.

Like the winged bonnet that protrudes above the body surface, one of the main elements of the interior is the central console. The control elements of the audio, navigation, ventilation and air conditioning systems and other buttons have been ergonomically arranged. This console blends smoothly into a tunnel that passes between the front seats and extends to the rear seats where it ends in a storage box (or an optional ashtray); the Elegance has the Jumbo Box air-conditioned storage box with adjustable outlets for air distribution to the rear seats. The box lid can simultaneously be used as an adjustable armrest.

The new and very attractive four-spoke steering wheel has been carefully designed to comply with ergonomic requirements; both gear lever and the steering wheel are extremely pleasant to hold and emphasise the interior concept. The well-arranged instrument panel is dominated by the large speedometer and rev counter dials with scales producing a 3D effect. During night driving, the instruments and control elements have ????????????????????koda's typical green illumination that does not disturb or divert the driver??????????????????????????????????????s attention even during a long drive.

The ceiling has a longitudinal protrusion that begins at the windscreen and runs between the front seats to the rear passenger section, where it terminates in a small lamp for lighting the interior. This produces the impression of a separate cockpit for the driver and front passenger (on the Ambiente and higher specifications in the hatch model and on the Classic and higher specifications in the estate version).

The attractively designed door panels are covered with top-quality materials with a pleasant texture (the upper part includes a soft plastic material that has been manufactured using the PU Slush technology) that underline the cosiness of the interior. The comfortable interior is further enhanced by various details including chrome-plated interior door handles with a touch-friendly, soft silicone lining inside (available with the Ambiente and Elegance). One of many interior innovations is a red blinking signalling diode in the driver's door, which replaces the door safety knobs.

Passenger comfort in the new ????????????????????koda Octavia is also improved by plenty of storage compartments:

• compartments in both the front and rear doors
• holders for large bottles (1 litre) in both front doors
• a large, illuminated (available with the Ambiente and Elegance) and air conditioned (available with the Elegance) box in the instrument panel in front of the front passenger
• a storage box (open on the Classic) in the central part of the instrument panel
• a box on the right below the steering wheel (to hold two cans etc.)
• a storage compartment in the central console (with the 1DIN radio)
• a double, multifunction cup holder in the central tunnel between the front seats (different sizes, also suitable for drinks in boxes)
• the air-conditioned Jumbo Box between the front seats (available with the Elegance) or a storage compartment, cup holder (for one bottle) and pen holder (available with the Classic and the Ambiente)
• a storage box with a hinged lid under the front passenger seat (available with the Elegance)
• compartments in the plastic lining of the front passenger seat bases
• an ashtray (or a storage box) in the front and rear
• pockets on the front seat backs.

Car body construction

The body of the new ????????????????????koda Octavia has been produced using high-strength materials, which results in a significant improvement in body rigidity, positively reflected in improved driving characteristics and increased passive safety. Solid anticorrosion body protection using galvanized sheets, and the application of anticorrosion layers during painting enables ????????????????????koda to provide a twelve-year body anti-corrosion protection guarantee.

The new ????????????????????koda Octavia is testament to ????????????????????koda??????????????????????????????????????s reputation for producing well-manufactured, high-quality cars. This high standard of quality is achieved by the thorough and precise fit of individual body parts and the use of other new technologies. One example is the laser welding between the roof and the sides of the car, making the transition between the roof and the sides of the car smooth and clean without the usual roof moulding. This thorough attention to the manufacture and, in particular, the carefully-designed body shape have resulted in excellent aerodynamic characteristics, which significantly contribute to the overall economical operation of the car ??????????????????????????????????????? the air resistance coefficient is Cx = 0.30.

Particular attention has been paid to the finer details. For example the door sealing has been doubled. The door opening is sealed using the standard main sealing on the inner edge of the doorframe. In addition, the doors also have an additional seal, which is assembled close to the body surface and embraces the whole door. This seal fills gaps between the doors and other body parts. This improves the aerodynamic characteristics of the car and reduces aerodynamic noise in addition to keeping doorsills and pillars cleaner.

Ventilation, air conditioning

Interior ventilation technology has been further developed with a ventilation bar in the depression of the instrument panel under the windscreen. Protected by fins, the outlets, which are usually used to distribute air to the windscreen, have been replaced by one continuous bar along the entire width of the windscreen. In addition, this bar is divided into two independent channels, one for windscreen ventilation and one for distributing air to the interior of the car. This allows sufficient air to be distributed to the interior without exposing occupants to an excessively strong air stream.

Outlets under the driver and front passenger seats distribute air to the rear passengers. The Elegance also has two additional air outlets on the back of the Jumbo Box. They allow passengers in the rear seats to adjust the ventilation in the car??????????????????????????????????????s rear compartment, which helps to increase their comfort and maintain the optimum temperature.

The standard equipment of the ????????????????????koda Octavia Elegance includes Climatic automatic air-conditioning that adjusts and automatically maintains the temperature of the distributed air. An alternative is Climatronic electronically-controlled two-zone air-conditioning, which is available only with the Ambiente and Elegance models as an optional feature. Just set the required interior temperature and the Climatronic air-conditioning system determines the necessary temperature, direction and volume of distributed air using data obtained from a system of sensors. In addition, different values can be set for the left and right side of the interior where the difference of temperature between the left and right side may be up to 5 ??????????????????????????????????????? 6???????????????????? C.

Seats

Individual parts of the seats have the optimum rigidity and ergonomic design and provide both a high level of comfort and excellent lateral support. The seat bases and backrests are long enough for occupants of all heights and provide perfect body support.

The rear seats are also extremely comfortable. Both the backrest and the base of the rear seat are foldable and split 1/3 to 2/3 and available as standard equipment. At the moment, the ????????????????????koda Octavia only has a folding and split (1/3 to 2/3) rear seat backrest; the split backrest on the Classic is available only as an optional feature. But this version will also soon be supplied with a folding base (available as standard with the Ambiente and the Elegance and as an option with the Classic). A folding armrest has been integrated in the rear seats backrest of the Elegance.

Front headrests have inclination adjustment. Active headrests are available as an option on the front seats and significantly reduce the risk of a backbone injury in a rear crash.

Luggage compartment

One of the main advantages of the new model is its large and accessible luggage compartment. Its basic 560 litres (580 litres in the estate version) can be increased up to 1,350 litres (1,420 litres for models equipped with a folding base and 1,620 litres in the estate version) when the rear seat backrests are folded. Its large door and low loading edge with a plastic lining makes access to the luggage compartment incredibly easy and allows even very large luggage to be loaded.

The use value of the luggage compartment is further enhanced by many useful details:

• preparation for fastening the safety triangle (under the edge of the luggage compartment; on the left in a recess behind the bumper apron in the estate version) and the first aid kit (on the right in a recess behind the bumper apron)
• four lashing eyelets on the luggage compartment floor; six eyelets in the estate and hatch versions equipped with a folding base
• luggage compartment illumination using two lamps for the estate and the hatch versions
• a through hole in the rear seats backrest with a foldable armrest so that long items, such as skis can be transported (available as an option with the Elegance and Ambiente); another option is the removable Skisack, which prevents the interior from being soiled by transported items
• a foldable hook for shopping bags in the Ambiente ??????????????????????????????????????? two hooks in the Elegance; the estate version has foldable hooks in a strip below the side windows
• a fastening net in the luggage compartment (available on the Elegance and higher specifications in the hatch version)
• a net programme ??????????????????????????????????????? two nets so that the luggage compartment can be divided (available as an option)
• a hook on which to hang the luggage compartment floor for easy access to the spare wheel.

A full-size spare wheel and the necessary tools are located under the floor of the luggage compartment near the loading edge (available with those model specifications where such a spare wheel is supplied as standard). This full-size spare wheel allows continuous driving without the need to quickly visit the nearest service shop, as is usually the case with temporary spare wheels.

Colours and upholstery

A wide range of exterior colours is available for the ????????????????????koda Octavia ??????????????????????????????????????? three non-metallic colours and nine metallic colours. Island Green is exclusive to the new Octavia.

The elegant design of the new upholstery reflects the equipment level. The complete range includes three colour concepts for the interior with a total of twelve versions of seat upholstery and door panels. The interior trim of the new ????????????????????koda Octavia is decorated with different designs for individual equipment specifications. As standard, the Ambiente and Elegance have fabric upholstery; the combined or leather options are available as an option.. The table below summarises the available interior design specifications.

The Classic interior, called Fancy, will be Onyx Black with black/silver combination fabric upholstery.

The Ambiente is available with an Onyx Black interior with grey or black fabric upholstery and in Achat Green-Beige with fabric upholstery in the same colour. An alternative is the Duo interior in Onyx Black or Achat Green-Beige with the seat upholstery in a leather/fabric combination. With this option the central parts of the seat bases and backrests are upholstered in fabric and the sides of the seats in leather.

The Elegance is available with the Eminent interior in Onyx Black or Ivory Beige with the seats upholstered in fabric. The Duo interior with combined seat upholstery (leather/fabric) in Onyx Black and Ivory Beige is available as an option. In addition, the Supreme interior with leather seat upholstery in two colours ??????????????????????????????????????? Onyx Black and Ivory Beige - is available as an option for the Elegance.
