For the second year running
For the second year running, the SEAT Ibiza received What Car?'s international Car of the Year 2004 award in its segment from the UK's prestigious automotive magazine What Car? The jury, consisting of the magazine's road testers and journalists, chose the five-door Ibiza 1.2 as the winner among several vehicles competing in its category. The same model also took the Supermini award at last year's edition, besides the overall What Car? Car of the Year 2003 distinction, beating the remaining 18 category winners. What Car? Editor Rob Aherne gave the award to Kevin James, director of SEAT UK, in a glittering ceremony in London. Aherne praised the Ibiza by saying that "with its attractive looks, this model transmits enthusiasm and offers a sporty drive". He added that "the Ibiza stands out for its spacious interior, the high quality materials used and excellent build quality, as well as its solid structure. Its high score in these areas gave it the lead over its rivals". SEAT is proud to receive this award again for the Ibiza in a market as demanding as the UK, where the brand is becoming increasingly popular. In 2003 nearly 35,000 SEAT vehicles were registered in the UK, a 21% increase over 2002 and a new sales record.
