Press Release
Since the TDI engines were introduced 10 years ago, performance enhancements through modification of the engine management have become as much part of the tuning scene as lowering kits and alloy wheels. As with many things, the good and the bad are determined by the individual development. Those who invest in intensive testing on the engine bench and track testing and those who try to take a short cut. The Audi and VW tuner OETTINGER has gained a reputation over more than half a century as the home of first class engine tuning who's durability is renowned. "For this reason we offer a two year unlimited mileage guarantee at no additional cost for all our engine conversions" says OETTINGER's Managing Director, Ruediger Voelkner. The tuning specialists from Hessen in Germany offer an engine enhancement for the 2.0 TDI engine which is available in the latest versions of the two top sellers from VW and Audi, the Golf V and the Audi A3. The enhancement increases the peak power from 103 kW (140 hp DIN) to 130 kW (177 hp DIN). But as with the 1.9 litre version of the turbocharged oil burner, it is the torque curve which is of most interest to the knowledgeable customer. Here the OETTINGER engineers have once again released noticeably more performance than the nominal power figures may convey. An impressive 380 Nm (280 lb/ft) is as already available at the wheels at only 2000 rpm. This allows both vehicles to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) at least 1.3 secs. quicker than the standard version. And as is to be expected from an OETTINGER conversion, the power is evenly distributed over the complete rev range, allowing for a relaxed driving style as well as a forced pace. Because of the large success of the special offers made in conjunction with the Frankfurt IAA exhibition, the crew from Friedrichsdorf have decided to extend these until the end of the year. This means that the conversion, incl. fitting and TÜV registration (where required) at OETTINGER is available for EUR 750.00 - now that is an offer. And for those who wish to fully utilise the gained speed through the continent's curves, OETTINGER can equip the Golf V and A3 with wheel and tyre combinations of up to 19 inches, high performance brake kits (Porsche system, EUR 3,266.00) and the latest generation of stainless steel adjustable suspensions (from EUR 1,120.00). If required the suspension is adjustable for firmness, compression and rebound in order to provide the ride and handling which optimally fulfils the customers wishes. For the Audi A3 the package can be rounded off with the sporty and elegant Aerodynamic package already so widely admired at the IAA. And what the team from Hessen are working on in this respect for the Golf V can only be anticipated.Related Photo Albums
