Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Receives Award
Named '2004 Sport Compact Car of the Year'
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced that the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has been named the 2004 Sport Compact Car of the Year by Sport Compact Car, a car enthusiast magazine published in the United States. "Its performance is nothing short of world class," said Scott Oldham, Editor-in-Chief of Sport Compact Car. "If you're into getting the most car for your hard-earned dollars, the Lancer Evolution is the car for you." The all-wheel drive Lancer Evolution is proving a hot seller on the North American market for its "big bang-low bucks" handling and performance levels, offering a 2.0-liter intercooler-turbocharged engine (US specification output 271 hp), aluminum engine hood, alloy suspension control arms and high-performance Brembo brakes all for under $30,000. "The Lancer Evolution embodies the spirit of our entire product line," said Finbarr O'Neill, co-chairman and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA). "The editors of Sport Compact Car magazine -- who speak for an audience of true car enthusiasts and serious compact car tuners -- have affirmed that with Mitsubishi, high performance and value are synonymous." This latest award represents the second such accolade won by Lancer Evolution following its selection as 2004 Automobile of the Year by Automobile Magazine. These awards clearly attest to the very high recognition accorded the car's performance and technology by consumers in the North American market.View Comment Rules
