Revised Honda Jazz at Geneva

Fine-tuned for 2004
The Jazz is Honda's best selling single model and visitors to the Geneva Salon will be able to see the revised range for 2004. The latest iteration of Honda's 5 door supermini retains all the best features of its predecessor including cute looks, exceptional build integrity and highly efficient Dual and Sequential Ignition (i-DSI) engines.
Sport grade expands range
The range has now been expanded with the addition of a 1.4 ES Sport model in LHD markets. Distinguished by silver 10-spoke 15 x 6JJ alloys the Sport model also features new front and rear bumper spoilers and side sill garnish. Front fog lights, silver headlights and heated mirrors complete the exterior package. Cabin enhancements on the Sport model include silver meters and a stylish black interior - also new to ES grade models (LHD only). Braking performance has been boosted across the Jazz range with all models now equipped with rear discs rather than drums, while S grade models now feature ABS in common with higher grades. All (LHD) models also get clear side indicator lenses, while among the revisions to the interior are a new illuminated power mirror switch, chrome door handles and rear centre headrests on all grades except S; driver's seat height adjustment is now extended across all grades.
Winning formula
The Jazz continues to be powered by 78 PS 1.2 litre and 83 PS 1.4 litre i-DSI (Dual Sequential Ignition) petrol engines that deliver some of the best performance / economy mixes in the class. Their twin spark plug technology and compact combustion chambers and sequential ignition achieve a blend of lively performance, exceptional frugality and compact dimensions. Combined figures are 5.3 and 5.5 l/100 km respectively. As well as manual, choice extends to a 7-speed continuously variable transmission with semi-automatic shift controlled by steering wheel buttons on 1.4 litre models. Precise, light controls, and attractive styling throughout the interior are matched by spacious accommodation. This is the result of the short nose, one box shape and a unique, centrally mounted fuel tank beneath the front seats that liberates an unprecedented amount of space in the rear. 'Magic' rear seats, which are simplicity itself to operate, fully exploit this space, folding completely flat in a one handed action, (without even the need to remove the headrests); while their bases can also be folded up cinema seat style to create an extra tall luggage compartment in the middle of the car that can even take a full size mountain bike. To collapse the rear seats, the front seats are slid forward using a lever located on the seat back, and this device is now standard across the 2004 range.
