General

• New generation of BMW roadsters, successor to Z3 Series; all-new vehicles except for evolutionary engines
• Available in two models: Z4 2.5i at $33,895 base price including destination; Z4 3.0i at $41,045

What's new for 2004

• Rain-sensing windshield wipers and automatic headlight control newly standard
• BMW Assist, a suite of convenience and safety services built around an integrated wireless communication and positioning system, is newly offered as part of the Premium Package or as a stand-alone option.
• Multi-function wheel with audio controls
• Preparation for a removable hardtop, offered as an option
• New interior upholstery combination - Dream Red/Black - offered for leather interiors

Performance & efficiency

• DOHC 24-valve inline 6-cylinder engine with Double VANOS steplessly variable valve timing: 2.5 liter/184 hp (2.5i) or 3.0 liter/225 hp (3.0i)
• Choice of manual transmission, optional Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) or STEPTRONIC automatic transmission
