Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is preparing for its scheduled market launch on the 15th March 2003 of its third model series in North America. Friday December 20th, at 8.00 a.m., an Antonov 124-100 cargo aircraft took off on time, from the Leipzig-Halle airport with 35 Cayenne cars on board. The transport aircraft powered by four turbojet engines - with a length of 69 metres and a wingspan of 73 metres one of the largest aircraft in the world - made two stopovers in Shannon/Eire and Gander/Canada before touching down with its valuable cargo on Saturday, 21th December, at 3.00 p.m. local time at its destination in Atlanta/USA. There the cars were received by the subsidiary company Porsche Cars North America (PCNA). The first 35 Cayennes from the series production operation at Porsche Leipzig GmbH, which have been flown to the United States, will be used exclusively for dealer training and presentation purposes. The vehicles to follow and designated to be sold in North America, will leave the Leipzig-based Porsche factory in special railway goods' wagons and be shipped to Emden from where they then will continue the journey to America by sea.View Comment Rules
