Press Release
Wolfsburg-The Passat W8 - the 202 kW (275 bhp) top model from Volkswagen - has been awarded the "Golden Pegasus" at the Moscow Motor Show. "Za ruljom", Russia's most popular automobile magazine, has been awarding this prize for the past eight years. The jury's unanimous decision was based on the view that the Passat W8 "sets itself distinctly apart from its competitors by virtue of its technical ideas and innovations. The engine in particular uses a layout that has never before appeared on a series-production car." From today, the Passat W8 will be available on the German market in saloon and Variant estate-car body styles. The key element in the Passat W8 is its eight-cylinder, 4.0-litre engine, an entirely new design with four valves per cylinder. Even at an engine speed of only 2750/min it develops a maximum torque of 370 newton-metres. The outstanding features of this "W8" unit include its supreme flow of power and its very low level of vibration. September 7, 2001Add a Comment
