At Rolex Monterey Historics in Northern California this Saturday

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the 16-cylinder supercar powered by twin banks of Volkswagen W8 engines, made its first on-the-track-and-running appearance today at Laguna Seca Raceway in preparation for this Saturday's (August 16th) World Premiere at the Rolex Monterey Historic races.

According to the company's web site, www.bugatti-cars.de/index.html, the much-anticipated sports car will take to the track for demonstration laps just before the historic Bugatti Grand Prix, a race featuring 1909 - 1939 Bugattis, scheduled for 1:30 PM PDT.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 has four turbochargers, and develops 1001 horsepower at 6000 RPM. No price or production information is available.

The Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races presented by Chrysler is held during the renowned classic car weekend in Monterey California. More than 40,000 visitors attend the Historics, which greatly supports the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monte rey Peninsula's (SCRAMP) contribution to local charities. Last year, SCRAMP made donations to 70 Central Coast charitable and service organizations.

This year will mark the 30th anniversary of the Monterey Historics at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. As it does each year, the event pays tribute to motor racing history, historic automobiles and the people who made them. Each year, hundreds of the finest his toric sports and racing cars are entered in 15 separate races over the two days that span nearly every era of motorsports history.
