Aside from its jaw-breaking performance, this particular black 993 Turbo is absolutely the nicest 911 I have ever seen. The owner, being a hard-core Porsche enthusiast, went to great lengths to insure that every aspect was thoroughly thought out with an intense concentration to detail. Many add on components were sourced directly from the factory to insure the highest quality.
One of the first things you notice about this car is its beautiful custom made BBS LM wheels coupled with super wide tires that completely fill out the flared wheel arches. H&R GT2 coilovers were sourced bringing the car down to the ground. Porsche's all-wheel-drive system helps in the overall handling characteristics since it takes the drama out of the serious speeds this car can easily achieve. The handling is an absolute no-brainer. Just turn the wheel and balance with the throttle. The car does not roll or dive. It only squats slightly under acceleration. It is so good and provides so much grip that on a skidpad it would easily pull 1g. But the incredible handling or legendary big braking system is not what you notice most about this car. It's the explosive acceleration.
Premier independant Porsche tuner Autothority Performance Engineering unleashed 607hp with their 993 TwinTurbo Stage 3 kit. The ECU has been re-calibrated along with an adjustable boost controller that allows the driver to dial in up to 1.2 bar of boost from its upgraded high-flow twin turbos. Many components are from the GT2 (993 version) of the mid 90's like the fuel pressure regulator, cams, clutch, and flywheel. The intercoolers have double the efficiency and exhaust flow characteristics have been improved. This all translates into a quarter mile time of 10.5 seconds at 135mph!
Regardless of the road surface this car will instantly shoot up to triple digit speeds. You find yourself looking far down the road to plan for where you are going. Surprisingly, inside the cockpit all is calm with little going on even at 130 on a country road. On the outside there are sounds of turbos hissing, whistling, popping and the exhaust system that sounds like a GT2 with laryngitis snarling and growling. But the serene interior and overall compliant ride are somewhat surprising because you expect to have a brutal ride in a performance machine of this caliber.
The throttle is like an electrical current regulator or rheostat. You turn it to the speed you want to go now and you're instantly there. Just don't forget to shift like lightning. Even at one quarter throttle you leave other mere mortal cars far behind. This car is an example of being almost too fast for the road and needs either a racetrack or autobahn to fully flex its 200mph muscles with utter confidence. This is as good as it gets for a road car, but we hear the owner is adding further upgrades to the engine, interior and drivetrain, can this incredible performance get any better? We hope to find out!
